Professional Leadership

Committed, creative, energetic, the Northern Home personnel support an ambitious, highly individualized, quality program requiring many different skills. Over half of our professional personnel have their master's degrees, representing a variety of fields including education, social work, human services, art therapy, and family services. Psychiatrists and psychologists are on staff. We have, in addition, a large number of consultants who work in our staff-intensive Wraparound program; we contract with other specialists on an as-needed, fee-for-service basis; we have expert management and administrative staff. Everyone at Northern Home is committed to providing service to our customers that is child-centered, respectful of personal and cultural differences, and collaborative.

We consider professional development as critical to the success of our service and actively encourage the pursuit of continuing education opportunities by offering tuition reimbursement. Investing in our staff means that many of them are able to expand their repertoire of skills. We, in turn, are allowed to expand our services to our clientele and develop new initiatives.

We are committed to staff development in other ways. Working with the local Schools of Social Work, we participate in focus groups where our insights from the field are exchanged with those of our academic hosts. We gain from discussions about the current trends in social services and the effect they will have on state and national policy.
