Truancy
Prevention and Intervention
The Truancy Prevention Program is a case-management process
serving as a short-term collaboration between Northern Home,
the Regional Truancy Courts, schools and families. This collective
effort assists the family in supporting the child’s
growth and development while promoting school attendance.

and Delinquency Prevention of the Department of Human Services.
After School Initiative at the Leslie Pinckney Hill School
The After School Program (ASI) provides each child a fun,
safe and supportive environment after school. The program
provides a range of activities to children and youth including
academic enrichment and homework assistance, structured physical
activities, service learning such as community service projects
and events, and enrichment activities such as art, sports
and mentoring. During the summer months, the After School
Program provides summer camp for the children. The ASI also
provides resources for families including a food bank and
LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program). The hours
of operation of the ASI are 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday.

and the entire community. As part of EPIC, Northern Home for
Children coordinates block and community-based meetings as
well as community-wide programs and events. The EPIC stakeholders
theme is “We can, We will and We are making a difference”.

placement back into the School District of Philadelphia. The

network and the School District’s Reti-Wrap Program.
They are responsible for facilitating the full participation
of reintegration workers and youth and their families in this
process.
