Foster Care Social Worker

Summary:

The Foster Care Social Worker is responsible for providing services to and on behalf of the consumers, natural families and foster families referred to the Family Services Department. The Social Worker is responsible for taking every necessary step to ensure that the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and safety needs of the consumer are being met and maintained in accordance with policies and procedures of current state and federal standards, guidelines and regulations.

• Responsibilities include documentation, planning, monitoring, communication, direct service and networking.

Requirements:

Education: Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience: Experience in child welfare. Working knowledge of clinical issues relating to children, adolescents and/or families.

Special Skills: This position requires a valid driver’s license and travel through the five county areas and beyond, ability to lift 20 lbs., ability to perform SPMCI techniques and to walk up and down stairs.

• Requires some flexible work schedule, evening and weekend hours.

• Required to carry emergency pager on a rotating basis.

Foster Care Social Worker II

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Foster Care Supervisor, the Foster Care Social Worker II duties include both daily casework and overseeing the casework of three social workers. S/he is responsible for providing services to and on behalf of the consumers, natural families and foster families referred to the Foster Care and Kinship Care Department. S/he is responsible for taking every necessary step to ensure that the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and safety needs of the consumers on their caseload and the caseload of the staff they oversee are being met and maintained. This is to be done in accordance with policies and procedures of current state and federal standards, guidelines and regulations. S/he provides leadership, planning, training, and clinical support necessary to implement principles of best practice.

Under the supervision of the Foster Care Supervisor, the Level II Social Worker monitors all aspects of the social workers responsibilities and is responsible for quality and individualized program implementation. S/he assures the services are delivered according to the highest quality clinical standards and according to the regulatory and funding source guidelines.

Requirements:

Education: Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Two years experience in child welfare with at least six months of experience working under the Performance Based Contract of Philadelphia County. Working knowledge of clinical issues relating to children, adolescent, and/or families.
