On
Wednesday November 19, 2008 the Central North EPIC Stakeholder
Group in collaboration with Cecil B. Moore Advisory
Council, Northern Home for Children, and many of the
businesses in the community paid homage to the wonderful
and dedicated Police Officers of the 22nd, 23rd,and
39th Districts at the Cecil B .Moore Recreation Center.
The Central North EPIC Community Stakeholder Group
is part of a city-wide collaborative created to address
truancy in Philadelphia . The Philadelphia Department
of Human Services developed the Equal Partners in Change
(EPIC) Stakeholder Groups that is located across the
City. These groups represent diverse communities. Residents,
youth, schools, police, faith based and community organizations,
along with local businesses manage their area stakeholder
group. This Stakeholder Group addresses issues in zip
codes 19121, 19129, 19132, and 19140.
We have seen a significant change in our community
through the increase of police presence. The lines of
communication have begun to open as we have come together
to take back our community. Therefore we would like
to show our appreciation to these officers: not just
for doing their job, but for joining with us diligently
supporting the North Philadelphia area day and night. |
